Defining Communication
Posted: April 18, 2020
Communication is the "link between the world and me." Communication is how we relate to ourselves and everything around us. Communication is so important that the success of a society depends on the ability of its citizens to communicate effectively. The word communication comes from the word "common", which means "equal". This suggests that in order to communiate with one another, we must find common ground To ensure this, our communication must be visual, auditory and kinesthetic.
Visual communication has to do with the way we use body language and gestures to deliver our message.
Communication can be verbal or nonberbal.
Effective communication is cruicial to any human being's growth. It doesn't matter how much we know about anything or how many degrees we have. If we cannot communiate adequately, it's unlikely that we will succeed in life. The quality of our lives is directly related to the quality of our commufnication because in today's world we need to interact with other human beings to achieve just about anything we might want.
We will discuss in the coming days how our apearance and attitude, how we look, can change people's perceptions, helping or hurting the effectiveness of our communication. We will talk about how we listen to others and ourselves. We will also address what we say and how we say it. Finally we will speak of the strongest form of communication, the actions, we take in our lives and how through them we can become an inspiration for others. We will discuss ways to improve our leadership skills to grow into the successful people we want to be.
