Improved in his coordination, balance and confidence

Isaac has learned more under Master Black in a month at ATA than in an entire year at another academy. Isaac has improved in his coordination, balance and confidence in this program. We look forward to seeing where he can go under Master Black's training.

Respect and discipline is combined with fun and caring

Caleb has had a lot of difficulty adjusting to living in Colorado since moving here from Georgia last summer. He was also recently diagnosed with ADD. ATA Black Belt Academy has given him a family where respect and discipline is combined with fun and caring. Master Black is great with him!

Message from School Owner Sr. Master Black

Welcome to our website, I appreciate your taking the opportunity to learn about how our programs can benefit you and your family. Our school has been proud to serve Jefferson County, Lakewood and surrounding areas since 1990. Our programs consist of karate classes for preschoolers from age 3 through adults. We have an all new adult self-defense program as well as many specialty courses featuring Bullying Prevention, Women’s Self-Defense, STEM Martial Art education in local schools and Fitness. All our traditional classes feature the Songahm Taekwondo curriculum at the steady hand of our founder, Corina Black, a 7th Degree Senior Master Instructor. She has been a loyal student of the American Taekwondo Association and has steadfastly shared the curriculum and philosophy of the ATA. In her early years, she was an avid competitor, finishing many times in the top five of World Wide competitions. We love to support our regional and in-school competitions, special events and family activities. We are passionate to help you and your family achieve their very best through the art of Taekwondo and our partner programs. Thank you for visiting our martial art website and we hope to see you soon.

Self-Defense, Personal Development and Leadership

Our ATA Martial Arts is dedicated to enhancing our community and its citizens through the positive personal development of our students. We accomplish this task by adhering to the following guidelines: Providing inspiration of personal excellence through our examples as Black Belts; both in and out of the school. The “Black Belt Attitude” and “Black Belt Excellence” themes encourage everyone to strive for their personal best in everything they do; whether training in class, interacting with family at home, or studying in school. Actively educating our students on the positive mental principles and values taught in our center. Honor, respect, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-confidence and loyalty are covered each and every week in class. Securing the long term growth of our school and its staff by providing outstanding customer service and safe, professional martial arts instruction. Our students and their families come first. Their personal well-being is as important to us as it is to them. Providing our students with the latest training and educational tools available in our industry. Each of our Instructors will attend a minimum of two continuing education seminars a year. Educating parents in the community about stranger awareness and assault prevention techniques. By providing clinics to the general public on these topics, we hope to make our community a safer place to live.

Structure, Emotion, Knowledge and Legacy

ATA Martial Arts Lakewood, we develop the students from the inside out. We introduce STRUCTURE to develop discipline to follow the rules; EMOTION to have a positive attitude and a passion for life; KNOWLEDGE to apply what is learned to home, school and life and LEGACY to become a leader for others to follow. When this journey begins with this solid foundation, the students experience pride through increased self esteem. We are excited to help you begin the journey.
