10349202_10152089756117967_4353634680577183186_nMr. Mortensen, originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, moved to Colorado in 2010 and then in 2014 joined Sr. Master Black’s ATA Martial Arts in Lakewood, CO and re-engaged in his martial art training.  This concluded a more than 10 year break from the ATA following an accident.  Mr. Mortensen is a passionate martial artist that loves to work with students needing that extra encouragement to be great and is highly focused on proper technique, but loves to spar and break boards.  His midwest roots bring with him a great sense of pride and energy in the ATA.  He also completed his first ever 5K in 2014 at Sr. Master Black’s 5K Team Pride fundraiser.  And when not working out…he enjoys fishing and cooking!

891_1073265390801_289_n 215481_1012052815977_4274_nHis ATA goals are to increase his instructor levels, get back to competition, earn additional protech certifications, complete his midterms and test for 4th degree black belt next spring at Las Vegas Nationals.  Mr. Mortensen is also an enthusiastic dad to his baby son.  Mr. Mortensen is a welcome addition to our ranks here at ATA Martial Arts.
